Here we are! Christmas Eve! Thank you so much for joining us for this little journey, which ends with us feeling christamssy in Paris. We hope we managed to brighten up the end of what's been a heavy year for us all. It's certainly been fun for us to look back through the years we've spent together and see there is much to be grateful for. To finish, we've chosen another Stolen Music hit, which will also feature on our Stolen Music disc after it's been on your IGTV. If you've seen Disney's Fantasia from the 1950s you'll know the story of Mickey Mouse trying to tame an army of possessed broomsticks. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is our final offering for this year, which was originally inspired by Goethe's poem with the same name and the composer, Dukas, even used the rhythm of the poem for the music! Wishing you all a very peaceful end of the year, however you choose to celebrate. For those unable to be with their loved ones, we wish you much positivity and light moving forward into the next year. Have a happy start to 2021!

Today's the day! 250 years ago our mate, the great Beethoven was born. It's no coincidence that people all over the world were gearing up to this event for such a long time. He has written not only some of the greatest music we have in the classical sphere, but also contributed hugely to the trajectory classical music took in the 19th century. We as a trio feel very gratfeul to be able to interpret the work of this giant of classical music and also feel very at home doing so. This picture was right before the last time we played his Archduke Trio, the video of which we shared a few days ago. You may also have spotted earlier our video of another one of his most famous chamber music works, the Ghost Trio (though this one has a twist...). We hope you enjoy it as our tribute to the great Ludwig van Beethoven. Happy birthday!

It's Day 15 and you're listening to what we consider CPE's most intriguing little movement, the transition betwen the first and third movements of this trio. The word transition is also applicable to what actually happens in this movement, as the music is constantly moving through different keys and moods before finally settling. It's so full of awe and wonder and we really think it's a great moment in piano trio writing! Almost as though CPE was playing the game "How many modulations can I fit in 30 seconds?" You may have had to celebrate your 30th indoors or your 18th in quarantine, but imagine being so famous people spend years planning your 250th and then one or two global events make everyone forget all about it...ouch. So, a reminder that Beethoven's 250th is this month! And no, this is not announcement that András Schiff will be replacing Prach at the piano, but a fond memory we have of working on one of our favourite trios with him a few years ago (you can tell by Konrad's hair, or the lack of it) - The Archduke Trio! It's a piece we're certain we'll be playing for the next few decades, and if you head over to our Facebook page you'll find our most recent performance of it in Berlin this last October, between two bouts of lockdown. With the hall half as full as it was allowed to be, it almost felt like things were briefly back to normal. Enjoy!

Speaking of halfway, remember that time we got stranded somewhere in the middle between Berlin and Cologne (a very long way), driving from one concert to another, and had to hope the mechanics could fix Vlad's car there and then? No? Well lucikly we have the evidence, which quite accurately sums up how each of us dealt with the situation. To soothe this memory, today we offer what is probably CPE's most "classical" of the trios.
